TESTIMONIES
FROM ELDER OWUSU ACHEAW
Elder Owusu Acheaw was born on 1953 in Atebubu in the Brong
Ahafo region, Ghana, West Africa.
He is married with three children. Elder Owusu possess two
diplomas of Accounting Studies from Cape Coast Polytechnic,
Cape Coast, Ghana and Institute of Accountancy, Kumasi,
Ghana.
He was employed by a Construction Company as a project officer
at Sunyani from 1974 to 1978. His love of adventure and
money enticed him to migrate to Nigeria in 1978. In Nigeria,
he worked as a secondary school teacher for about five years
and was later deported back to Ghana during a mass deportation
of Ghanaians from Nigeria during the early eighties. He
later returned to Nigeria, after which he continued on to
Europe and then finally to Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 1985.
In Canada, Elder Owusu was well known as
an alcoholic beverage drinker and a person who loved to
party. This habit made him popular in the Ghanaian community
in Montreal to such a degree that Ghanaians in Montreal
non-officially changed his name to “The Asekafuo Hene”,
meaning “The Chief of money”. Later, his new
name was known by all other Ghanaians in North America.
He was one of the first people who accepted
Jesus Christ as his personal saviour (Born Again Christian)
in 1997 when Apostle Brakatu visited Montreal to win souls
for Christ. His conversion to Christianity was astonishing
to most of the Ghanaians in Montreal because of his popularity.
Consequently, the message quickly extended throughout the
other Ghanaian Communities in North America.
When Elder Owusu became a Born Again Christian,
he faced a major temptation. His daughter broke her thigh
at the age of seven months. As a result, she was taken by
the Children’s aid, as this incidence was considered
to be child negligence. Although he was new to Christ, the
little he had learned from the word of God such as Believing
that many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the
Lord deliver him from them all, “Pls. 34 vrs 19”
helped him to stand firm in Christ. His faith and belief
in the word of God assisted him in overcoming the devil.
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! In a few days, his daughter was
returned to him without much visits to the court.
Elder Owusu is proud to say that he is among
the first seven founders of The Apostles’ Continuation
Church International Montreal Branch. He is currently an
Elder, Chairman of the Welfare Ministry, and an interpreter
of the Church (Twi to English and vice versa).
To
God be the Glory great things he has done. I hope that his
testimony will bless some one.
